Virgo Dianne Berpolt’s Point of View

“Daughter!” I heard my father call out to me while I admire the flowers just along with the beautiful garden of the hospital.

That’s right, currently, I am hospitalized – and in a more complex manner than you might know. I’m pretending to have become crippled.

“Father!” I beam as I open my arms to him, ready to hug him.

“Ah,” I get shocked when I saw my older brother stride just behind my father. He’s especially wary of me as he is the heir of Berpolt.

“Brother!” I beam – gathering all the energy I have to try and get him to lower his guard. If I could only get on his good side, I’m guaranteed survival.

He ignores me as father leaps into my arms, tightly hugging me. I love my father deeply, however, his affection will become the death of me – literally.

“How are you right now? I can’t believe those scum had the courage to do this,” he rubbed his face on my shoulder – he can be cute sometimes, however, it suffocates me to an extent.

All his other children are all men, this might be the reason why he cherishes me most out of all of them.

“Gerald, give that to your sister,” he turned to my older brother to give me the bag he’d been carrying.

“Daughter, here is the-,” my father’s words drowned out in the background as I saw my brother slowly smirking at me. I felt the chills run down my spine.

His mouth started to open, I managed to read his lips, “Con~tin~ue Pre~ten~ding, Li~ttle~Sis~ter.”

My eyes widened as I looked down, “Daughter? What’s wrong?”

I shook my head and smiled as he rambled on about what he bought. At this point, I don’t want the money anymore – I just want to live.

“What did the doctor say about your legs?” Father asked as he looked at me with worry.

“I don’t think I’ll ever be able to walk, father. I’ve become paralyzed from my hips down,” I said – and I’m not even joking about this.

However, they gave me the choice to seek for treatment, it is very possible but I can’t. If I heal right now, I’ll definitely die.

I can only thank God I didn’t die yesterday, I can’t even live normally now.

I was born and raised in a simple house with my mother, we didn’t have any problems and I cherished her deeply.

My mother’s time came and she died the most gruesome death somebody can have – I witnessed her murder but I can’t even testify properly.

I watch videos every day of children being brave enough to testify against their mother’s own killer, I blame myself to this day. However, I just can’t remember for some reason.

“What? We’ll pay for any kind of treatment. I should talk to the doc-,” I stopped him before he could stand.

“Father, please,” I was desperate, he’ll know that I have a chance. I can’t be found now, I’m sure Gerald is pretending to know.

“Oh? Are you really crippled now?” Gerald asked, his voice sounded sympathetic but his face showed otherwise.

I gulped and nodded, “I can’t feel my legs, when I woke up – they said I don’t have a chance.”

My father showed sorrow on his face, “I’ll definitely go and investigate this, I’ll kill those scumbags.”

I shook my head, “Father, I’d like to ask for a favor.” He turns to me, his eyes sparkling – you really should show the same enthusiasm with your sons. If you did that I won’t be on the brink of my death every minute of the day, would I?

I smile awkwardly – I tense up intensely as I see my older brother’s eyes glare daggers at me, they are all demons.

“Um, I’d like to marry a man that can take care of me for the rest of my life,” I said and I felt the burden from my shoulders lift off as I see my older brother’s previous hostile expression lighten.

“Don’t worry, my daughter,” father caressed my face. “I’ll stay with you forever,” he said shamelessly – causing my older brother to plan death routes for me in his head.

“I-I’ll marry that servant!” I closed my eyes as I pointed at the man behind them – I knew him. I couldn’t be mistaken, he was there that night.

My brother turns around and snickers, “Sister, are you sure? That’s the servant that has a loose nail in his head.”

“Loose nail?” I thought as I looked at the man’s clueless face. Is he pretending to be stupid right now?

“I’m sure, I will make that servant fall in love with me – and I’ll marry him, father,” my eyes sparkled as my father crinkled his nose. I can’t stay in this family – I need someone that could get me out of here.

Who knows what my stepmother might do again – maybe next time I wouldn’t be so fortunate to have him save me.

My older brother went near my father and whispered something in his ear, causing my father’s eyes to sparkle.

“Really?” My father looked shocked as my brother whispered again. He nodded before turning to me.

“If that is your wish, I shall give you a month to make him fall in love,” he said – I could see the little curl on his lips.

They seem to be underestimating him – “Perhaps, is he a spy from another family? If so, this is even more perfect! I can give him the information he needs and in return, he can protect me from this despicable family.

“I’ll definitely be able to do this,” I state – my sight not leaving the servant.

“I’ll be leaving Walter here with you,” father said – he’s surprisingly giving his permission for this. There must be something more to do this.

Father left me alone with the servant, we face each other as the servant named Walter stood just at the entrance of the hospital’s garden.

I look at him awkwardly while I pretend to touch the flowers, “This guy doesn’t seem to be too interested.”

I shrugged the thought off as I pretended I was preoccupied with the flowers once again.

I almost flinched when the servant’s figure in my peripheral vision started to move.

He suddenly walks towards me at a surprisingly fast pace –

“Um, hi?”
