Vanessa left the house hurriedly and boarded a cab headed for Westland corporations. Looking at her watch, she was ten minutes late.

“Shit, shit, shit.” she cursed silently as she made her way to the company entrance. It was a Friday, the last day of the week, therefore the company was a bit crowded.

She managed to get her way around the crowd as she tried to move to the elevator. Getting to the elevator, she suddenly bumped into a hard wall; only to see it wasn't a wall but a man's chest. The impact sent her sprawling backwards, her bag falling as her documents scattered across the polished floor.

“ Watch it, young lady”

“Why don't you watch it, mister?” she replied immediately without looking at the owner of the voice. She bent to pick up her scattered documents and stationeries and was ready to move when a pair of fingers flicked her forehead and stopped her from moving.

“Hey, what did you do that for? You couldn't even say sorry after bumping into me but you flicked my forehead. Aren't you being silly?”

She turned to face the jerk only to meet two brown eyes, which had a hint of curiosity and annoyance in them. This is the first time looking at a man straight in the eye. She used that opportunity to take in the sight of the man before her.

He was bent to her height, and from the look of it, he was 6’2, while she was 5’4. She looked small compared to him, although she was a bit chubby in appearance.

He has a perfect nose and a well-chiseled jaw and cheekbones, full eyebrows, and heart-shaped lips.

He was dressed in a blue shirt and well-ironed black pants with a dress shoe that gave off a casual vibe.

Remembering she still had an interview to meet up with, she slapped his hands away from her face and glared at him. He looked shocked as if this was the first time someone's been rude to him.

She smirked and picked up her documents, walking towards the elevator immediately. Looking at him for the last time, he looked dumbfounded and surprised

“Don't think I forgave you dumbo, touching unnecessary without permission. Be thankful I have something important to do. If not, I would have dealt with you. Such a nasty jerk”.

She could swear she saw a hint of amusement on his face but she entered the elevator immediately. Luckily, the interview had just begun when she entered.

The interview was almost done when one of the judges looked up and smiled, saying she had some questions to ask.

“Mrs Ronald, do you know how to do basic house chores?”

“Like cooking, cleaning, and little work that would be needed in the house.”

She was shocked by the question because this wasn't one of the questions asked in a secretary interview.

“Our CEO is currently living alone and he might need those services as he's not so familiar with house chores”

“He might need a hand in the kitchen sometimes”

“Wait, did you just mention the CEO?”

“I never knew I was going to be working for the CEO of Westland!!”

“I thought it was just a random shareholder who didn't matter in the company”

“ Now that you mentioned the CEO, I'm getting a little bit scared”

“He's known for firing his secretary almost every week, what if I lose my job next week? How will I cope? I don't want to work for one week and start looking for another job”

They all laughed and said those were groundless rumors and their CEO is one of the best bosses you could work with

She wasn't still satisfied with their responses, but she had no choice because she needed this job.

After thirty minutes, she was done and they said they would contact her if she was chosen for the job.

She thanked them, said her goodbyes, and left the company after the interview. She went to a convenience store across the company to buy groceries for herself and Sarah, her roommate, as they had finished the last one they bought.

After getting groceries and the necessities, she walked straight to the cookies and chocolate section for a treat when she saw her favorite snacks.

She stretched her hands to get the snacks as it was on the topmost layer of the shelf.

After two minutes of struggling, she couldn't get it. She left it and had it in mind to come back for it.

After going around and getting all she needed, she went back for her treat. She was so happy to see it lying peacefully on the shelf.

‘I need to get it before someone else does’

Before she could think of a solution or a way to get it from where it was, a masculine hand emerged above her and picked it up

She turned to get back the cookies but she saw that same inviting brown eyes she saw earlier this morning.

“I knew that dress looked familiar. Just like I thought, it's you.”

“Scratch that jerk, give back the cookies, and shoo”

“That's so rude young lady. You are looking pretty, you shouldn't talk to people that way”

“I don't give a damn about people, what I need is my cookies not this silly talk about the right attitude”

“I saw it first, and that was the last pack on the shelf. Can you kindly give it back?”

“Why should I give it back when it's in my possession? It's mine already and I can't give it out to anyone.” the obnoxious guy said with a smirk on his face.

“Ughh, you know what, you can have it”

She left in defeat, not wanting to see his face anymore. ‘this jerk has spoilt my day’

She didn't want to be with the guy or else she was going to punch his face. After checking out what she got from the store, she left hurriedly, not wanting the jerk to be any close to her.

As she was about to leave, she heard someone call her name

“Vanessa, wait!!!”
