" I want your food" my brother Kelvin said to me for the third time which is also obviously the last time as his eyes were shooting daggers at me and I was very sure he wasn't going to repeat himself again.

" I am not going to let you have my food again today" I retorted back in the same tone. I wasn't going to submit to him today. I am tired of him taking most of my lunch everyday at school because he is older than me and can always bully me anyhow he wants.

This has been going on since God knows when. Our mom would prepare lunch everyday and we would take it to school to eat at noon because we take extra lessons and usually get home late every evening. But my elder brother Kelvin will always eat most of my lunch immediately we get to school everyday and will threaten me not to tell anyone.

But I wasn't having any of that today. I was getting tired of pretending that everything is fine when it's not. " This is my best food and it's not much so am not letting you have it" I tried to explain to him but the look on his face was telling me I was infuriating him more. Duh, he can do whatever he likes, I am used to it anyways." You shall see "was all he said to me before heading to his classroom. "I shall see nothing" I said to myself

I turned and walked into my own class or should I say my own nightmare. I hated school so much. To me it's just like our corrupt government where the rich kids gets the best treatment. Their arrogance and misbehavings could be overlooked and they take everything for granted as if the world was created specially just for them. And then comes the brilliant ones, the teacher's favorite and friends to the rich kids. Always behaving like the others are not worth their attention and time. Not like am craving for their attention, infact I prefer to be unnoticed, at least that way I can stay out of trouble and trouble would stay away from me. And then comes us, the ones considered poor and dumb.

Even in the list of the dumb and broke kids I seemed to be last, not the poorest of course but the dumbest for sure. And the ugliest lest I forget. Or so I thought. I was second to the ugliest in my family then, only second to the sixth child who was also the last Born as of the time. I was only five years old but by now I have also realized that special treatment are given to those with pretty face even when they have empty brains.

We were not poor, though I can't say that we were rich either but we don't starve and we don't get chased out of school for school fees, so at least I can say that we were well off. We were living like the average Nigerian citizens.

I went to the corner of the classroom room where we keep our food flasks and dropped my food, went back to my desk and sat down. Soon the teacher came in and we started reciting different poems as instructed by her while I prayed in my heart that time fly as fast as possible as i already want to leave the damned place.
