Unknown's Point of View

"Wakey, Wakey darlin'."

The sound of a masculine voice pulls me from my dreamless sleep. My head is in excruciating pain! I reluctantly open my eyes to see an unknown man looking down at me. Though he looks... Familiar?

The man has shaggy ginger hair. Some strands falling on his muscular face. His face is defined with a short beard and piercing blue eyes. When I look into his eyes I feel nothing but fear.

"W-What's going on?"

"I'm sad to say that I hit you harder then I wanted. Sad, because it cut our time short. You were asleep for far too long."

I stare up at him in shock, confusion, and fear.

"Why so confused darlin'?"

"W-Who are you?"

He seemed takin' aback by my statement but, his terrifying grin hardly falters. It even looks like his grin grew.

"Are you saying you actually forgot me?"

I slowly nod my head. The throbbing pain spikes, causing me to raise my hand to where it hurts. As my hand makes contact with the spot of the pain, I wince. I feel a warm wet substance on my fingers. As I pull my hand back, I see blood on my index finger. Am I bleeding?

A haunting laugh brings me out of my thoughts. Wincing at the sound, I look at him once again.

"This is fantastic! Think of the opportunities! I can give you brand new experiences! Oh, this has brightened my day."

I could just feel the fear coursing through my veins. Why did he want to hurt me? What did I do? Did I do something bad? I hope I didn't hurt someone.

"Now, what shall we start with--- Crap!"

In an instant, the huge smirk on his face dissipates and is replaced with a scowl. Not wasting a second, the man turns and exits through the jail cell door, growling. He slams the door shut and stomps away.

Now that he was gone, my nerves calmed a bit before new ones resurface. Was I in a jail cell? I look around the cell and notice the walls are covered with blood. On one of the walls is a handprint made of blood. I stand up--- well, I tried to stand up but I soon realized how week I feel. I am covered in cuts and bruises. Each more gruesome than the last. What happened?

I finally manage to stand up, and I slowly make my way towards the handprint.

I look and see it's a pretty small handprint. I place my hand over it and see that my hand is a bit bigger than it but, I'm pretty sure it's mine. How long have I been in here for?

Feeling queasy, I fall to the floor and I vomit up the contents of my stomach. Not much came out but it was very painful.

I put my hand on the cell door as support as I try to stand but, once I put pressure on it, the door opened! I could have sworn he slammed it shut. I look down and see a bloodied crowbar in the doorway. It must have been dropped there and left unnoticed.

... I could escape. But should I? What if I did something wrong?

But, looking at all the blood in the room, I know this isn't right. I can feel it. Yes, I need to escape!

I stand up once again on shaky feet. And I step out of the cell, holding onto the wall for support.

I look around and no one is in sight. Where do I go from here? If the man wanted to leave this place then he probably knew where he was going. Turning to the direction he left at, I start to stumble my way down the hall.

°°°

I spent a long time stumbling along the corridors looking for an exit. I come across a staircase that leads upward and I decide to go up it.

At the top of the staircase is a long hallway with only 3 doors, one which is at the end of it. I open the door at the very end to be blinded by sunlight. It takes me several minutes to adjust to the outside light to be able to actually see my surroundings. I walk outside and I find that I was in the basement of what looks like an abandoned building. The building is surrounded by forest on all side except for a dirt road. Where do I go now?

Once they find out I'm gone. They'll probably think I went down the road. Maybe going through the brush is a better idea. A better idea so that they don't find me. It's not like they can smell me out or something.

I make my way in the opposite direction of the road. I try to run but, I am too weak to. So, I just walk. Or I should say limp.

I make my way through the forest at a slow pace. I have to go faster or they might get me! I continue for a while till I make it to a very small river. My stomach growls and I now fully realize how hungry and thirsty I actually am. When was the last time I've eaten? I look down at myself and see that I'm almost just skin and bone.

I make my way to a shallow part of the river and start to drink. I drink till I can't drink another drop. I have to keep going but, where am I even heading? For all I know I'm heading away from civilization. I can't lose hope. If I only had the energy and strength to take me!

I stand up and close my eyes, trying to concentrate my mind on going faster. I don't really know what I'm doing. I'm searching my mind to find any store of energy or something I can harvest and use. I start to feel an almost, instinctive pull. I try to follow that pull in my mind and start to feel my body shake.

My eyes shoot open as I see everything around me start to get more detailed. I fall to the ground as my legs give way. I look back at them and notice they are bent where they should not be bending! I feel my bones start to move, break and readjust into new places. What is happening?

A scream of pain and terror leaves my lips but it sounds more animalistic than human. I look at my hands to see they aren't hands anymore but, paws.

I close my eyes in fear from what is happening but I don't think there is anything to do to stop it. After several minutes I open my eyes when the feeling of my bones moving has stopped. I am so confused but also relieved? Why I don't know.

I look behind me and notice I'm covered in grey fur with a poofy, dog-like tail on my now, animal butt. I also notice that my nose is bigger and is a muzzle?

I look at the water and instead of seeing a human face, I see a wolf face staring back at me. Ok? I'm not human. Why am I not freaking out? This should be very scary but I feel tranquil. So, I'm... I'm... What's the word? I know I know it. I think? I don't know.

I then remember that I was running away. I should hurry up and go! No telling if that guy can do this wolf change thing too. Question is, where too next? I think I'll follow the river downstream since that might lead to some man-made structure or the ocean. And from the ocean, I can follow the shore somewhere. Yeah, that sounds good!

And now feeling this new energy and stamina, I can definitely get a good distance away. I start to run along the side of the river with new hopes.

°°°

The sun has set a while ago and now all that lights my path is the moon. I have followed this river, never slowing my speed unless to maneuver around an obstacle. Soon my ears pick up the sound of loud splashing water. I see the end of the river/stream thing to see the water all majestically fall and become a beautiful waterfall. I look out from the top of the waterfall to see a beautiful lake, all surrounded by trees.

This is a good place to stop for the night. Well, down there anyway. Up here I can be seen easily if someone just happens to look up at the waterfall.

I find a way down and go to the edge of the lake. I look at my reflection again and really take in my wolf appearance. My ears were a very dark grey, as well as most of my face. Except for the tip of my snout that had some lighter grey on it. I look at my body to see that I was also in this form, really skinny. I could see my ribs, even threw all this fur. I also noticed scarring on my legs, back, and stomach. Basically, everywhere.

I wish I could remember what happened. Or at least something! It felt like every time I see something I get a very foggy feeling like it reminds me of something but, I don't know what it reminds me of. Like having a word on the tip of your tong but can't say it!

I huff in annoyance. One of my many questions pops to the front of my mind. How am I going to change back? Before I can give it much thought, I hear twigs snap behind me.

I turn my head and see a man that I've never seen before standing at the treeline.

"Shift, Rogue."
