Demitra's POV
“Absolutely not!”
“Ms Demitra”
“I said no.
”
“but you haven't listened to everything”
“I don't care”
The lawyer sighs
“You may want to reconsider Ms”
“Reconsider what? Getting married against my will to get my rightful inheritance?”
“If your father chose Luke Combs as your husband, it must have been for a good reason”
The name alone makes my jaw tighten. Luke Combs, the man I’d spent years avoiding at
meetings and family gatherings. And now , he is meant to be my husband.
I lean back on my seat and cross my arms.
“This is crazy”
“The will can't be changed”
“I don't care”
“You should”
The Lawyer slid a document across the table towards me.
“What happens if I refuse?”
He went quiet for a minute, then sighed.
“You lose Walker Holdings”
My stomach drops.
“You can't be serious”
I hurriedly took a look at the document. My father's name, written boldly at the bottom of the
page.

Even dead, he still found a way to control my life.
I picked up the document with trembling hands and a rush of emotions.
“Read it” the lawyer said in a hesitant manner.
“I already know what it says”
“So you must know what you must do now”
I look down at the document one last time.
The Walker Holdings would be handed over to my daughter, Demitra Walker if she fulfills
the following condition…
I read the sentence over and over.
“No”
The Lawyer said nothing.
“No no no no”
I dropped the paper on the table.
“This can't be real.
”
“Where are the cameras?”
“This is very much real Ms”
“Does anyone else know about this?”
He hesitates
“Mr Combs knows about this agreement”

My blood went cold.
“Luke?”
I laughed bitterly.
“He was informed before your father's passing”
My chair scraped against the floor as I stood up.
“He knew?!”
“Yes Ms”
“And I didn't?”
“I believe your father had his reasons for everything he has done”
“I can't believe this”
“Did my father think I would not be able to run the company alone?”
“I'm not in the position to answer that Ms Demitra and there's still more to the will”
“What could possibly be worse than what you just told me?”
The Lawyer took a long sigh.
“It also says if you don't marry Luke Combs your inheritance would be transferred to your
father's family”
My vision blurs with anger.
“Now you have to be kidding me!”
My father's family are greedy goblins. They never cared about him , they only cared about his
money. They never even visited him when he was sick nor did they come for his funeral. His
greedy brother is only coming next week because I lied to him about the date of the reading.
“This can't happen”
I grab my bag
“Where are you going?”
“To find him”
“I strongly advise against that”
“Do I look like I care?”
Before he could give a response, I was already out the door.
I couldn't let my entire future depend on a man I could barely stand.
I didn't need a husband. I worked hard for this.
I needed an answer and I was going to get one.
Even if I had to tear his world apart to fix mine.
