"Blind idiot, even running around while pregnant!"
"Quick, chase her! We can't let her escape. Once we catch her, I'll definitely skin her alive!"
Winnie stumbled and ran forward, with a young man and a woman desperately chasing her from behind.
The fierce wind howled around them as Winnie ran against the gale. Her limbs were so slender that they seemed fragile, and her exposed skin was covered in bruises.
She dashed all the way into the abandoned dock.
The sea breeze brought a fishy smell as moss covered the stone steps. Winnie was barefoot, her soles pierced by the sharp rocks, leaving her feet dripping with blood.
She didn't have time to care about the pain, groping her way into an abandoned house and curling her small body in a corner.
"Damn it! Are you sure she ran this way?"
"Who knows! She's a blind girl, but she runs so fast, it's like she's seen a ghost!"
Charity and Brian stood on the moss-covered dock, their faces ugly.
The air was filled with a damp, fishy stench, and Charity covered her nose in disgust, "It stinks!"
Brian glared at her, "Whose fault is it for being careless and letting her escape? I'll tell you, the child she's carrying is from the Miller family! If she runs away, you can kiss our good life goodbye!"
Charity's face turned stiff, and she said nothing.
Brian looked around the gloomy dock, paused for a moment, and then put on a smile, "Little Winnie, come to brother Brian. Stop playing hide and seek. I'll take you home."
"Don't be angry. What you're carrying in your belly is the Miller family's important heir! With this child, we can enjoy a lifetime of wealth and honor!"
"Please come out, okay? I promise I won't hit you."
Winnie curled up still in the corner in which she was hiding, shivering and hugging herself.
Fifteen years ago, her family suddenly suffered a tragedy. A massive fire left her family dead, and she lost her eyesight as a result.
It was her family's loyal servant, Timothy Stewart, who took her in, and she stayed with him for several years. His son, Brian, studied abroad and returned home earlier this year only to show her great tenderness and spoil her.
She believed him wholeheartedly, allowing his gentleness to move her step by step.
However, a wolf in sheep's clothing could never pretend for too long.
When he found out that she, once a wealthy young lady, had lost all her fortune, he revealed his true nature and began to beat her.
Later on, he even conspired with her caregiver, Charity, and the two shamelessly mingled in front of her.
Eventually, the two incurred massive gambling debts.
Out of options to repay their debts, they decided to offer her to their creditor.
Upon reaching a sordid venue, they met the eldest son of the Miller family, Yale, and suddenly changed their minds, eager to strike it big.
As a result, she was pushed into Yale's room...
That night, the air was filled with passion, desire, and a strong aphrodisiac scent.
She was forced to become Yale's woman.
Brian originally planned to blackmail Yale, but the young master didn't play by the rules, sending people to beat up Brian and Charity before throwing them out of the hotel.
Brian was unable to extort money, so he vented his anger on Winnie instead.
Winnie was beaten up badly and had to lay in bed for a month before she could barely walk again.
This morning, she suddenly couldn't stop throwing up.
Charity and Brian realized something and rushed her to the hospital for a checkup.
The results showed that she was pregnant.
Winnie knew what Brian was planning.
He found the situation suitable for him to extort even more money with the pregnancy news since his earlier attempt to blackmail Yale in order to extort money had failed.
But she just couldn't wait for her doom.
She had to escape!
Escape from the clutches of those two people!
The voices gradually faded away, and Winnie bit her fingernails hard.
In the darkness, her hearing was exceptionally sensitive.
The rustling sound of leather shoes stepping on the moss came closer and closer, breaking the silence of her world. Winnie clenched her lips tightly, and her breathing even slowed down.
Had she been discovered?
The footsteps got closer and closer, and the sound of the leather shoes on the steps was clear and piercing.
The sound of the steps minimizes and someone stopped in front of her.
Between breaths, a cold, woody fragrance entered her nostrils, giving Winnie a suffocating feeling that weighed down her breathing.
"Heh."
A gloomy and cold chuckle suddenly sounded in Winnie's ears.
"Miss Smith, I heard that the child in your belly is of my seed?"
