SYLVIA
I was still very young when people made me understand that my family is a mess. I grew up in someone else's home and taken care by someone else's parents. My parents choose to their back at me that's why I became everyone's charity case. My name is Sylvia Amethyst Parker, I grew up wanting love and chasing people.
Well now I'm lost, my wings where cut by those people I thought would help me reach my dreams. They stole my burning passion, they burned my goals and after that they leave me in the dark. I honestly don't know where to start or what to do because all I can see is that I failed to be what I wanted to be.
I'm back to square one but this time I'm all alone.
"Are you ready?"
I was taken back from my reverie by my cousin's voice, I smiled faintly at her. I'm withdrawing all my credentials from my school, leaving the life I enjoy, especially the friendships but I'll always remember them as they hold a special place in my heart with all the memories we share.
I take a one last look at my dorm room and then close the door. I walked down the stairs, looking around as moments in every corner appears like a movie to me. I sighed and smiled bitterly.
"I'll miss you dork."
I was startled. I look around and saw Andrea, my close friend in here walking towards me with a sad look in her face. I smiled genuinely at her.
"You know l'll miss you too right?"
I said as she enveloped me with a warm embrace. I patted her back before we parted from the hug.
"Maybe I'm meant to fail for there's a bigger things God stored for me. For now this is goodbye."
she smiles at me sadly.
"For now." she said
We bid our last farewell and I continue walking, out from the future people around me planned for me but in the end they are the one who burnt it. This time I promise I'll stand up and prove to them that I can do it even if I'm alone.
For now I'll mend my wounds and start again.
HARPER
I never knew what to do in my life. I was the black sheep, the bad boy but what really makes me fight every single day despite being someone with unclear future is my faith. I still believe that there’s someone up there guiding me. I am an altar server. It is maybe kind of hypocritical for me to be an ass and at the same time a faithful individual but welcome to the door of hell. My name is Harper Alvin Sin Fuego, the heart breaker but love searcher.
I always wanted attention, I crave for it that's why I always end up bedding anyone that passed my taste, they are my month flavors but once I got them I break them before they do it. And what people don't know is that I'm afraid to be the one that would end up broken, I'm afraid to lose because I know love can be cruel.
My parents made me this way, my mom's a wasted woman, got impregnated by anyone and she just left us all in my grandmother's care. My dad, well I never got a chance to meet him, my mother never told me about him.
"Harp are you going to church? can you offer a prayer for me."
I stopped Ironing my button down shirt and looked at my grandmother. I smiled at her and put down the iron.
"Prayer for?"
I politely ask, I'm an ass but I still have respect especially to elders. I'm close with my grandma, she was the only one that believes in me, she's my anchor that hold me still in this shaky world.
"For your mom, for her to be safe always."
My smile slowly fade when she said that. I don't just get it, why would grandma still care for her after abandoning us?
She patted my head and gave me the money for donation. When she left I sat on my bed and looked at the door blankly.
I'm a tough guy that what's my friends told me, I am always part of street fights, I have vices, I stand up for what I believe and I just don't cry easily but what they didn't know is that I am also hurting, deep inside is a scarred heart that I caged to prevent it from breaking.
I sighed and close my eyes as I pinch the top part of my nose.
I grab my phone and started scrolling through my contacts, I need to let out some steam. And it kind of a good thing that I kept numbers of my past flings, that's why I can call them anytime.
"Harper someone's here to see you!"
I stand up immediately when my grandma shouted at me downstairs. I walked down the stairs puzzled. Who would go here and find me? I never mention my address to any of my flings or drinking buddy.
When I reached the last stair I looked up at my unexpected visitor. I smiled widely when I saw who it was.
"Avery man! what's up?"
I said and we do our hand shake. He just smirked at me and nod his head sidewards. I told him to sit on the couch and he oblige.
"Just happened to pass by so I thought about dropping by. How are you Harp?"
I just shrugged and smiled at him. Avery's my best friend since Childhood.
He looks so successful even though he is still going to school. I somewhat envy him for being someone so career oriented. I wish I could be like that too. I am still lost in the dark alley and I guess no sex for today too.
