PROLOGUE

　　Raymond Walter was confused and somewhat frustrated. How could she tell him that she was carrying his child? He had always been careful, so how did she end up being pregnant? Oh he knew he knew that the child she was carrying was his; he couldn’t deny that even if he tried to. He knew that he was responsible for the baby she was carrying because even if they weren’t dating she had always been faithful to him.

　　He wanted to get angry and smash things but he knew it wouldn’t solve his problem; all he could do was to think and find a way out. But, he also knew he couldn’t abandon her because she was carrying his child. He had nothing to support her or the child and he doubted if he was ever going to have something to support her and the child.

　　Raymond didn’t want his child growing up to hate him because he had grown up hating his own father for abandoning his mother and never acknowledging him as his son. He had watched his mother die just because she wouldn’t accept the fact that the man she had fell in love with wanted nothing to do with her or her child. He didn’t want the same thing to happen to Cecelia or his child, but then, he happened to be a penniless man.

　　Sighing deeply, he got up from the street bench he was sitting on, stepped on the cigarette he was smoking and made his way back to the cottage Cecelia was staying. He met Cecelia outside pacing and rubbing her hands nervously. It was obvious she had been waiting and hoping for him to come back after he had stormed off angrily

　　“Hey” he muttered

　　“You came back” she said smiling “you really came back” she said and jumped on him

　　“Yes” he said sighing “i can’t abandon you now” he told her trying so hard to have the kind of smile she has on her face. “You need me now more than ever and I also want to be in my child’s life, I want watch my child grow up”

　　“You came back just because of the baby?” she asked with a cracked voice “You didn’t come back because you realize that you are in love with me?”

　　“You know the answer to that Cecelia” he answered with a sigh “You have me and I won’t abandon you”

　　“Okay” she muttered and led him inside the cottage

　　“I will look for a steadier job that will enable me be there for you and the baby” he informed her as he sat on the only sofa in the cottage.

　　“That’s is very thoughtful of you ray” Cecelia said as he tried to hide a yawn

　　“Go to sleep Cece” Ray said and leaned back on to the sofa to think more about the sudden his life had taken.
