What kind of hellhole is this? Ethan murmured in disbelief. The last thing he remembered was the explosion of his pill refining furnace.

But what he saw now held no trace of medicinal pills. Instead, there were only white walls and a pungent odor from some medicinal potion that made Ethan frown slightly. Even the debris from the furnace explosion was nowhere to be seen!

Just then, as if to resolve Ethan’s confusion, a complex stream of information suddenly surged from the depths of his mind.

Ethan grunted; his face turned pale for a moment. But after a short while, calm returned, and he slowly opened his eyes.

“So, that’s what happened…”

The explosion had destroyed Ethan’s physical body. Yet, for some unknown reason, his soul survived, crossing to planet Earth and reincarnating into another man also named Ethan, who was lying in a hospital bed.

This Ethan was quite unfortunate. He was nobody — a nobody who hadn’t found a proper job after graduating university. Lacking ambition, he ended up working at a bar, earning a meager salary of around a thousand dollar a month, barely scraping by day to day.

As if that weren’t enough, fate had more in store for him. A car accident had left Ethan paralyzed from the waist down. He had been hospitalized for almost a month now.

“Paralysis!” Ethan was taken aback. He was a medical fairy. If he was paralyzed, wouldn’t that mean he was good for nothing?

Ethan’s eyes deepened instantly, resembling an ever-expanding starry sky.

Pupil technique… Demon King’s True Eyes!

In his previous life, it was Ethan’s most accomplished and favored mystical art—unrelated to cultivation stages, but dependent on the strength of the spirit. Though he had lost all cultivation now, his soul was still powerful. Using the Demon King’s True Eyes at this moment was definitely good news!

Moments later, Ethan eased his breath. Fortunately, the violent collision from the accident had caused pressure on his leg bones, obstructing the lower body meridians—a typical aftermath of a car crash. But to Ethan, it was as simple as a cakewalk.

With this in mind, he immediately began to mobilize the pitifully little physical strength left in his body and slowly repaired the meridians in his lower limbs.

Just then, the hospital room door quietly opened, and a girl in a tight white nurse uniform entered, humming a song.

“Huh? You’re awake,” she said, stepping inside. At first glance, she saw Ethan staring back at her with wide eyes and greeted him politely.

After a month, she and Ethan had become quite familiar.

“Of course, I woke up early when I knew the beautiful Miss Lin was coming,” Ethan laughed casually.

Sophie looked at Ethan in surprise, as if noticing something new. Curiously, she asked, “I’ve always thought you were an honest person. Why do you seem different today?”

Ethan paused briefly, laughing awkwardly. “Maybe I suddenly wised up.”

“Ah, stop beating around the bush. Don’t you realize your current situation?” Sophie sighed.

“What situation am I in?”

“Your lower body is paralyzed, and drugs alone won’t help. You need surgery. It’s been almost a month. If you can’t raise the hundred thousand dollar for the operation and miss the optimal window, you could…”

“Not be cured, right? That’s okay,” Ethan said nonchalantly.

“Are you giving up on yourself?” Sophie glared, clearly dissatisfied with his indifferent attitude.

Ethan found it amusing. While talking to Sophie, he was secretly self-treating—and he was already halfway successful.

At that moment, two unexpected guests entered: a man and a woman. The woman was gorgeous, with a mesmerizing figure; the man, dressed in a white suit, sported glossy hair.

Ethan frowned and snapped coldly, “Why are you here?”

The woman, Jasmine, was Ethan’s girlfriend during his four years in college. They broke up the day before Ethan’s hospitalization due to the accident. The cause was Lucas, a typical second-generation rich kid standing beside Jasmine.

“Why can’t I come?” Jasmine’s face briefly flickered with reluctance but quickly shifted into a mocking smile. “Let’s see, it’s been about a month, right? What? Haven’t started your operation yet?”

“There’s no need for you to concern yourself,” Ethan said coldly. “After all, we have no relationship now, do we?”

At this, Jasmine grew agitated. “Ethan, you’re always like this—unambitious, yet arrogant and foolish!”

“Let me make it clear: how I am has nothing to do with you.” Ethan’s voice was firm. Betrayal was something he could never tolerate—not in his past life, nor in this one.

Lucas stepped forward, strolling to Ethan’s bedside, sizing him up and down, then said mockingly, “Tsk tsk… paralyzed from the waist down—how miserable.”

“What exactly do you want to say? If there’s nothing else, please leave. I need to rest,” Ethan replied without a trace of patience. In his past life, he would have slapped these backstabbers away long ago.

“Beg me!” Jasmine suddenly demanded. “Just ask! Lucas will pay for your operation. You won’t have to lie here the rest of your life.”

“Thank you, but no.”

“Stubborn!” Jasmine roared, her face twisted in anger. “Are you angry with me? But ask yourself—what did you ever give me during our four years in college? A five-dollar hair clip? Or a worn-out purse you picked up from a street stall?”

Ethan’s eyes narrowed as memories flooded his mind. “In our freshman year, when you wanted to quit school because of poverty at home, it was me who neglected my studies and worked part-time to support you—all for your education. You ask what I gave you?”

Jasmine’s expression twisted wildly, her once-beautiful face now grotesque. “So what? What you gave me in college isn’t even comparable to what Lucas gave me in a day!”

Ethan squinted suddenly, smiled, and said, “He gives you money. I gave you… the future.”

“Your future? Nonsense! Be realistic! Look at yourself—graduated, achieved nothing. You can’t give me what I want. Now, you’re paralyzed. Without Lucas’s money for surgery, you’ll lie in that bed forever!”

“So, you want me to beg you?” Ethan asked lazily.

“Exactly! This is your only chance!” Jasmine declared proudly.

“You want me to beg, admit I’m incompetent, and that I couldn’t take care of you—just to ease your conscience, right?” Ethan smirked, teasing. “Unfortunately, I can’t grant you that.”

After saying this, Ethan suddenly lifted the blanket, stood up, and got to his feet!

“What? This… how is this possible?” Jasmine’s face twisted in shock. Lucas’s expression was equally stunned.

Ethan ignored Jasmine and instead walked over to Lucas. He leaned close and said in a low voice, “Lucas, let me ask you something. If a beautiful woman was lying naked in front of you, and you found yourself unable to perform, wouldn’t that be frustrating?”

With the Demon King’s True Eyes, detecting Lucas’s problem was as easy as turning his hand.

Lucas’s body trembled violently, eyes bulging in disbelief. He stared at Ethan incredulously—but Ethan had already turned and was walking toward the door.

After two steps, Ethan paused and glanced back at Jasmine. “One more piece of advice for Young Master Lucas: I wouldn’t want a woman like her even if she were given to me for free!”

With that, Ethan took another step forward.

“Wait!” Lucas yelled. “What you just said… do you have a solution?”

Lucas swore to the heavens—no one but him knew about his impotence. But Ethan had seen right through him at first glance. This Ethan was not as simple as Jasmine had described!

“If I can detect it, naturally I have a solution.”

“What’s the solution?” Lucas asked, excitement creeping into his tone.

“Want to know? Heh… you’ll have to beg me,” Ethan said without looking back. He laughed heartily as he stepped out of the room.
