Every second counts, and every hour, people are already lining up to die in the fictitious booth. Since death is an inevitable fact of life, make an effort to spend time with and reconnect with others who are close to you. I panicked and shook my head, praying that another of our patients will be rescued.

"Nurse!" someone exclaims. When administering CPR on one of our patients, the attending physician yelled. I can't believe the situation in front of me was that dramatic; if we don't succeed in reviving this patient, he'll be the fourth patient to die today.

"We've already done whatever we can," I fumed, "but he still doesn't react."

We're in the emergency room right now, doing CPR on a man in his late fifties. We provided him oxygen and tested his vital signs, but his vital signs did not respond as time passed. Dr. Kenneth, the attending physician, finished resuscitating him, pulled the white blanket that served as the patient's blanket over our patient's body, glanced at his watch, and confirmed our patient's death record.

"The time of death was 1:02 p.m. on December 27th," he said.

It's difficult to believe that only 60% of patients who enter the emergency department will be dead before they leave. The season of greetings was just about to begin when another life was taken the next week. This type of situation isn't unfamiliar to us, nor is it particularly significant, but when we encounter grieving families, it seems as if the blame rests with us. We left the ward and left the patient's body in the hands of the charge nurse. We went right to the restroom to wash our hands before removing our lab coats.

After finishing drying her hands,Akesha Louise Alvarez, one of the nurses and a classmate of mine, stretched her arms out in the air. She gasped, "Can't believe the patient who died right now was the fourth on the record."

"Well, as if," Dr. Kenneth said, "death reports at this hospital have never been to two deaths a day; often it still reaches seven cases of deaths a day."

I secretly washed my hands while listening to the subject they were discussing; the three of us knew each other from college, where they were all colleagues, and Akesha had always been with me because I was still on work training before I met her. We hadn't expected the three of us to end up working at the same hospital. When I call them by their first names, particularly at work, I get annoyed, so I always add the words 'nurse' and 'doctor' whenever I call them in this hospital.

"Isn't it a burden to be an appointed physician to have your patient die?" Kenneth inquired into my thoughts.

"Yes, Doctor," I confirmed.

"Argh? You should only call us by our names instead of using the terms 'doctor' and 'nurse,' "Akesha said, annoyed.

We made our way down the hospital corridor to the nursery counter. I'd find that a group of nurses and doctors were waiting outside the door. We'll probably find someone in a higher role.

"I'm interested in learning more about what's going on." Kenneth was the one who asked the question.

"Neither do I, and we weren't here," sarcastically said Akesha.

Since Akesha is a traditional female gossiper with a bitchy attitude, she stretches her head from left to right and flips her hair in front of us.

"I can't be late," she said proudly.

Kenneth and I didn't think her demeanor were all that bad; we both needed to get to know her better before we could tell what her true personality was. I attempted to embed myself into the hospital personnel's formations. I won't say Kenneth didn't have the looks, but one nurse gave us room to join the fandom outside. He is attractive, charming, and has a rugged appearance. It irritates me that they treat him as a V.I.P. visitor.

Another doctor must be joining our team today, based on the talk of the other nurses on my left side; no doubt they're all prepared, apart from the three of us who haven't heard the news. As a figure within my mind appeared out of nowhere, I exhaled deeply. It's the guy I'd hoped to meet for years; I assume he's already a doctor, and if he is, it'll be very difficult, if not impossible, for him to work here. He's wealthy, and his expectations are very high. It caused me to pause for a moment before I knew Kenneth was repeating himself for the third time.

"Oh! What were you thinking? It seems I'm going to choke on your thoughts, because they're too thick," Kenneth said.

"Oh, it's nothing," I explained.

I was about to defend my claim when a noisy explosion erupted in our hospital, drawing everyone's attention. "My, my, he's here, what a handsome doctor," exclaimed the nurse, who was throwing tantrums in front of the entrance.

"Oh, my!" "He's adorable," said another nurse.

"Aw, shucks!" "Attractive" Akesha continued.

Kenneth and I remained at the Nurse Counter; I found that our Head Nurse had already gone there; the welcome was very exclusive, as there were more security guards on the lookout. Kenneth was scratching his head and frowning later, which I noted. Kenneth said, "Ish, I'm more handsome that him." This guy is envious! Hahahahhaa!

"Yes," I assured him.

Later on Akesha delivered the news, and I quickly recalled my former seatmate Bryle.

"Gosh! I discovered that we would be exposed to the new Doctors later," she said

"I heard his name was Gian," Akesha added.

What's up with that? Gian? I shouldn't worry about it right? so there's a 20-30% possibility that Gian is the name of the people on this planet. It's as if my heart is racing and I want to see if it's actually Gian; I can't take it any longer and I need to see.

"Gian, Gian is a dreadful name." Kenneth replied.

I'm very interested on that man, is that him? What if he does?

"What does he specialize in?" Kenneth enquired of Akesha.

Akesha pledged "heart."

"He'll only grab the hearts of the ladies here," Kenneth responded. "I think the newbie will head to our Agency, and that's nice for our department, so we'll be the talk of the town."

"We weren't sure if he was kind and nice because he's so handsome" I proposed

"We shouldn't judge a book by its cover," says Kenneth agreeing with me.

Akesha teased, "You both are cute."

I suddenly shoved her to the side and slammed the door in her face; she's a pain. We were taken aback by the awkwardness of the new Doctor and our Head Nurse walking in front of us.

"Excuse me, but I'd like to introduce you to our new Cardiologist, who will be with us for the next three years," our head nurse says. “It's great to finally meet you, and I hope we all get along well, "The new doctor greeted the group.

I exchanged a glance with him, and it was as if time had stood still, as the motion between us became a little slower, and some of our memories resurfaced. If I'm not mistaken, It’s actually him. For the moment being, I'll consider him altered because his voice had changed and some features of his face had improved.

Kenneth extended his hands for a handshake and said, "Dr. Kenneth Inway."

Why does my ex-boyfriend end up in this hospital of all places?

"Dr. Gian Kyle Alterson Memmrick," Gian said as he shook Kenneth's hand.

Akesha, "Nurse Akesha Louise Alvarez," she added to the conversation.

They all shook hands, and I was curious if I should do the same. I think he doesn't recognize me yet. I've really improved a lot. Such characteristics were stripped from my life, and I started a new one.

Gian reached out and extended his hand to me, looking at me as though he recognized me. He was taken aback when he realized it was the same me with whom he had shared those memories ten years before. I was scared and oh my! It's time for me to act normal; it's been ten years! time for me to move on.

"Nurse Acezielle Graze Reyes," I said, directing my gaze away from him.

I haven't yet lifted my hand, but I see he's expecting it. Can I consider it? Oh, my goodness! I don't have a choice. I managed to smile as I shook his hand.

He smiled as he said, "It's been years."

It wasn't his sincere smile, and neither was mine; I suppose seeing each other on a regular basis would be difficult for us.

"I think 9 or 10?" I said, then our hands parted and I squinted in the same direction.

"Are you both familiar with each other?" Akesha was surprised and persisted.

Yes, we are both familiar with each other, since he is my absolute ex-crush and ex-boyfriend, who landed on my heart and left a massive crater that will remain there indefinitely. This is my life story, and my name is Acezielle Graze Reyes.

Crush landing on you!
