Lazily passed out on the floor were two young ladies; a brunette and a dark-haired lady, with a box of pizza above the head of the dark-haired and about seven to nine cans of soda and beer lying around the brunette. On the couch was a blonde, with her hands raised above her head, her right foot on the floor and the other curled up on the couch with a bowl which once contained popcorn by her side and some pieces of the popcorn which had not gone into her stomach on the couch and the floor.
Soundly they slept and the brunette, at intervals, gave out a deep and loud snore telling how enjoyable her sleep was. At the far end of the room was another young lady, dressed in a blue turtle neck long sleeve dress which was tucked in black trousers, had a broad smile on her face as she watched the other girls who were sleeping. Shaking her head, she walked to the dining table as she stirred her coffee, and took a sip before placing it on the table. She looked around in search of something and found the music player at the foot of the blonde quickly, she connected her phone to the music player as she increased the volume to the highest and played the tune of the alarm.
Grinn, Grinn, came the alarm and the brunette and blonde jerked up from where they lay, and the dark-haired turned to lie by her side. The brunette rubbed her eyes lazily and looked around the living room and her eyes fell on the girl who had woken them up.
"Witch," she cussed with a glare in her eyes and the other girl chuckled.
"Good morning to you too, Alex, how was your sleep?" She asked with a broad smile.
"Peaceful and nice before you decided to interrupt." She pouted as she got off the floor to sit next to the blonde.
"Olive sure knows how to spoil good things. What are you?" She asked the lady who was already dressed. "A killjoy?"
"Harsh, Angelique, harsh," Olive said and chuckled as she saw Angel roll her eyes.
"No, she is a witch because it's only witches that know how to spoil good things."
"There are no such things as witches, Alex, and can someone please wake Lola up," And they all turned to look at the dark-haired on the floor, and as if on cue, Lola got up with a yawn and sat down as she glared at Olive.
"It was you. Again. In the same way, right?"
"Oh thank you for asking, no I didn't get enough sleep because I had to make notes for my students." She said and entered the house to appear seconds later with a slightly big black bag in her hand.
"I cannot believe your students love you with this attitude," Alex said and scoffed. "And speaking of, why aren't you in school today? It should be past nine or something."
"I took a day off." Her eyes unconsciously lowered as she began picking her fingers. She didn't want to look back into their pitiful eyes but sadly, the eyes they gave her were all question and no pity.
"Why did you do that? Anything going on?" Lola asked.
Finally, someone asked, she said in her mind but as she opened her mouth to pour out her heart, her words got stuck in her throat and she just shook her head with a forced smile on her face. "I am very fine girls, I just really needed to rest."
"You sure?" Angel asked and she nodded. She didn't want to trouble the girls because they already had a lot on their plates and adding her own problem might be equal to asking the girls to kill themselves for her and that was one thing she didn't want for it to happen.
"And please ladies, go tidy yourself and this living room up. No man will be willing to keep you in his house if you continue like this."
Lola and Alex sent a glare to Olive and Angel pouted.
"I know you are the witch here," Alex said, " But, my intuition tells me something. Olive, spill, you do have a man right or wrong?"
Olive's cheeks turned red from the question and she raised her coffee mug to hide her face and the other girls noticing the flush of embarrassment on her face rushed to stand by her.
"You sneaky little thing," Angel said and lightly pinched Olive's cheeks. "No wonder you have been talking about men and marriage and a new home."
"Don't blame me, I have been trying to give you guys hints, it's not my fault that you are slow."
"Hmmph, since when is it?" Asked Alex.
"Sunday," She replied and shyly rubbed the bridge of her nose.
"Guys, I have something to tell you too," Lola said softly. "I have a man too and I also met him on Sunday."
"Me too, his name is Marcus." Said, Angel.
"Mine's George. I also met him on Sunday," added Alex.
"Wait, we all have someone and we kept it from each other," Olive noticed. It was quite absurd that they kept things from each other and none of them noticed.
"I was totally going to tell you guys about it just that, I wanted everything to be solid first, you know, I don't want to jinx it like the last one," Angel said and Lola and Alex nodded in agreement.
After the awful past experiences the four of them had with men, they made a resolution, together and personally, to trade with caution when it comes to dealing with men again and that was why they decided not to say anything till they were sure the men were going to stay.
"Okay guess what," Angel said and went back to where she was seated as the other girl's eyes trailed her quizzically. "My Marcus is taking me on a date tomorrow."
"Stop it," Lola chipped in, "Henry is taking me on a date tomorrow too," her eyes lit up in excitement.
"And my George too. Wait, is it just coincidence or is there something we should be worried about?"
"I think we should be happy our dream is finally coming true. We wanted to get married the same day and I think with the way things are going we will." Olive said raising her brows coyly. "And oh, did I also mention Chris is taking me on a date tomorrow night?"
The girls squealed happily as they all drew in for a hug. What they wanted was for every one of them to be happy and with the way they were seeing things it seemed like happiness indeed has located them.
"Alright, three of you to the bathroom now, you stink," Olive said as she pulled out of the hug and the other girls turned to glare at her.
